JOSEPH W. BONIFAS, 80, of Fort Wayne, died Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at his home. Born April 2, 1931, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of the late Charles D. and Georgia Grace (Gaunt) Bonifas. On April 14, 1951, he married Delorese Gilbert at Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a US Air Force Veteran and a career Firefighter with the Fort Wayne Fire Department, retiring as District Chief. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Firefighters Union. After retirement, he started Bonifas & Son Painting. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Delorese Bonifas; son, Joseph G. Bonifas; daughters, Shelley Warner, Teresa Roling and Susan Pollard; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.He was also preceded in death by a brother, Charles. Funeral service is 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Trinity United Methodist Church, Putnam St., with visitation one hour prior to service.
