James “Jim” Arman, 91, of Fort Wayne, went to be with the Lord on April 4, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. Jim was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, on May 30, 1930, and was the son of the late George and Olga Arman.
Jim graduated from Central High School in 1948. His first job was with the Pennsylvania Railroad at Baker Street and then worked at Capehart Farnsworth. In 1951, Jim joined the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin BB64 and headed to Yokosuka, Japan, but came back to port after a shell hit the ship in Korean waters and was then transferred to the cruiser U.S.S. Pittsburg GA 72. Jim was discharged in 1953 as his father was ill. In 1956, Jim joined the Fort Wayne Fire Department and served as a private at Fire Stations No. 5, No.1 and No.2. He was promoted to lieutenant at No.3 and then promoted to captain. He retired from No.12 Fire Department in 1978. Upon his retirement from the Fire Department, Jim worked in the Maintenance Department at Indiana & Michigan Electric company and retired in 1993. Jim led a full and memorable life, devoting himself to his family.
