Donald Ross Cleveland, 89 passed away from complications of pneumonia on January 11 at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA. He was born September 3, 1932 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was preceded in death this past summer by his wife of 65 years, Margaret Cleveland. He is survived by his son David Cleveland of Palm Springs, CA and his daughter Dawn Neas of Mesa, AZ. A graduate of Concordia Lutheran High School, he was Marine Corp veteran of the Korean War where he was wounded in battle and received the Purple Heart. Later he spent 27 years as a firefighter for the City of Fort Wayne, IN where he became a captain and was also the city’s first Director of its Emergency Medical Service. He moved with his wife to California in 2014 to be closer to their children. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Palm Desert.
