CAPTAIN ERIC J. BALLIET, 41, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2017 during a training session with the Fort Wayne Fire Department. He was a native and lifetime resident of Fort Wayne. Eric graduated from Northrop High School in 1994 and earned his associate degree from Ivy Tech. Eric was a 19-year veteran of the Fort Wayne Fire Department; a paramedic with Three Rivers Ambulance Authority, a Deputy Coroner with the Allen County Coroner's office since 2009, Captain of Traffic Division for Allen County Sheriff Reserves and Dean of Campers at the Great Lake Burn Camp of Jackson, Mich. He was a member of Pathway Christian Church. Eric was passionate about his family as well as his service to the community. He received numerous achievements through both Fort Wayne Fire Department in addition to the other organizations he served. His family and friends will miss his love, and his ability to light up a room with his humor and genuine love for people. His heart was larger than his stature. Surviving are his loving wife, Alicia K Balliet and their twin children, Lucas and Alyssa of Fort Wayne, Ind.; father, Gail R (Elaine) Balliet of Angola, Ind.; mother, Deborah (Thomas) Armento of Spring Hill, Tenn.; brother, Aaron Balliet of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister, Tina (Matt) Willis of Angola, Ind.; grandmother, Nancy LeValley and grandfather, Raybourn LeValley of Florida; in-laws, Robert (Dorothy) Zimmerman of Clearwater, Fla.; brother-in-law, Robert (Karen) Zimmerman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; sister-in-law, Carrie (Michael) Miller of Angola, Ind.; grandmothers, Catherine Roth of Huntertown, Ind.; Roberta Roth of Fort Wayne, Ind.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Eric was preceded in death by grandparents, Grandville "Ty" and Phyllis Balliet.
