BENJAMIN TAYLOR HARVILL, JR, 84, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born in Fort Wayne, he was a firefighter with the Fort Wayne City Fire Department for 23 years, retiring in 1974. He also worked as a security guard for Zollner Corp for 10 years after his retirement from the fire department. He was a member of First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, Maumee Masonic Lodge 275 F.& A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, Mizpah Shrine, Orchard Gallery. He was a
US Navy Veteran where he served as a SeaBee. He was an avid wood carver, taught woodcarving and loved to play golf. Surviving are his wife, Barbara A. (Behny) Harvill of Fort Wayne; daughters, Janine Roser of Lutz, Fla., and Judith (Dan) Rickert of Fort Wayne; and son, Michael (Kathy) Harvill of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin T. Harvill; mother, Isbella (Proehl) Harvill; and two sisters. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at First Wayne Street United Methodist Church, 300 E. Wayne Street with, calling one hour prior. The Rev. Greg Enstrom officiating. Calling also from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 12, 2012 at D.O. McComb & Sons Maplewood Park Funeral Home, 4017 Maplecrest Road, Fort Wayne. Burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
